Amandari is located just outside the art community of Ubud, in Central Bali. Perched on an escarpment high above the winding Ayung River gorge, it follows the design of a traditional Balinese village. The open–air lobby was designed after a ‘wantilan’, a village meeting place. River–stone walkways with shrines link to the thatched–roof suites, each of which has it own private garden courtyard and some boast a private pool. The pathway that runs through Amandari and down the valley to the river below is sacred land.
The restaurant, open to the breezes and crafted largely of teak wood, overlooks the beautiful swimming pool and the gorge. The spa is surrounded by water and features two open–air massage bales, a beauty room, a sauna and a steam room. The fully equipped fitness centre looks out onto the surrounding lotus pond and the tennis court is floodlit for night play.
