Set on the edge of the Masaai Mara National Reserve, covering an area of some 1,500 km² in the southwest Kenya , is the Bateleur Camp At Kichwa Tembo. Meaning ‘Head of the Elephant’ in KiSwahili, Kichwa Tembo is located on a private concession leased from Masaai landlords.
The eight luxurious chalets and four suites, feature a private deck overlooking the vast game–filled plains of the Masaai Mara. Each tent is elegantly furnished with gleaming wooden floors, shingle roof, wood–framed beds, ceiling fan, shower, leather chairs and a writing table. However the focal point of each tent is the capacious tub. The essence of relaxation is to gaze from your bath over uninterrupted views of the surrounding bush.
Although guests can enjoy an abundance of game throughout the year, from June to October comes the climax for which the area is world famous: The Great Migration. Considered to be the most awe–inspiring spectacle in the animal kingdom, millions of zebra and wildebeest cross the Mara River on their annual trek in search of new food sources.
In addition to this you can experience open 4x4 safari drive, enjoy a guided nature walk with a Masaai guide or simply relax by the outdoor lap pool. Your private butler will serve you delicious Pan–African cuisine in the dining area, on the veranda or in a romantic setting under the stars.
