Islington is an exclusive hotel, nestled, amid ancient gardens, in the dress circle of the City of Hobart. This luxurious enclave boasts 11 rooms, each of a distinctive character. Built in 1847, Islington is a fine example of Regency architecture recently restored to showcase its original glory and updated to include the little luxuries and amenities our forebears overlooked, such as ensuite bathrooms, a Mountain View pavilion and fine wine cellar.

The large guest suites feature crystal marble bathrooms which glow like jewel boxes and are furnished with imported baths, separate shower stalls and toilets, and brought together by a granite heated floor. The conservatory, centre–piece of the hotel, adjoins the country kitchen and opens onto the terrace, beyond which is the reflecting infinity pond, pavilion and, towering in the distance, the grandeur of Mt Wellington.

Late in the afternoon enjoy a glass of Tasmanian wine whilst savouring the setting of the sun. And from here wander through the extensive gardens, populated by a landmark willow tree over 100 years old.
