The concept of Jake’s was born in 1993 when the Henzell family incorporated a historical home into a restaurant called Jake’s, named after a local parrot. Located on Treasure Beach, on the serene South Coast of Jamaica, Jake’s is a “little piece of art coming out of the ground“ according to Chris Blackwell, founder of Island Records and Island Outpost.
The resorts’ 29 rooms, including Honeymoon & Romance Suites, offer an eclectic mix of Jamaican, Mexican, Greek and Catalan styles. The resort also boasts 4 two–bedroom cottages, one being 5 minutes walk away, where Alex Healey wrote the book Roots. The airy cottages were created by theatrical designer Sally Henzell to commune with garden, sea and sky. Each elegant room has been uniquely designed, painted with bright bohemian colors and named after a sea creature.
Hotel facilities include a beach, saltwater pool, private cove, games room with cable TV, CD collection, book and video library and two restaurants and a bar — including Jake’s oceanfront restaurant and Jack Sprat, a lively beach–side restaurant.
