Built in 1930 as the French colonial governor’s residence, La Residence Hotel & Spa is a stunning, art–deco edifice and one of Vietnam’s monumental hotels.
Set on a two hectare site with 200 meters of frontage on the fabled Perfume River, the hotel’s terraces, gardens and ample banks of windows offer grand views of the landmark Flagtower Bastion, the Trang Tien Bridge, Hue Citadel and other imperial monuments of this UNESCO World Heritage site.
Inside, the hotel’s 122 rooms and suites, restaurants, lounges, bars and conference room are tricked out in art–deco furnishings and decor that evoke both the 1920s and 1950s. Each of the colonial junior suites is an individually inspired experience, with decor steeped in exotic locales from China to Egypt.
The award–winning spa fronts an artfully imagined tropical garden and a 30–metre long, saltwater swimming pool. A tennis court and a fully equipped, top–floor fitness centre are other attractive entertainment options.
