Mara Plains is a small, high quality camp under canvas located within the private Olare Orok Conservancy and just a few hundred metres to the north of the Masai Mara National Reserve boundary. Enjoy game drives in both the Masai Mara and in the privacy of the Olare Orok Conservancy away from the crowds. The Conservancy is a fabulous wildlife reserve of nearly 20,000 acres, rich in wildlife and the Mara’s lowest vehicle density. The camp is in the epicentre of the hunting grounds of many of Africa’s big cats. Hardly a night passes without the exciting sounds of predator activity and lions roaring nearby.
Catering for 14 guests with seven spacious and comfortable en-suite canvas rooms built on raised wooden decks, it offers sweeping views of the surrounding plains and riverine forest. The camp features a raised dining room under canvas as well as a comfortable lounge. The outdoor dining area is a great place to relax in the cool shade of the large trees along the river. Activities include shared game drives in open 4x4 vehicles, night drives and walking safaris.
