The Xara Palace Hotel is perched on a hilltop in the centre of the silent walled city of Mdina on the Mediterranean island of Malta. Originally built by the Knights of St John in the 17th century as a residence for the noble family Moscati Parisio, today the palace has been transformed into a boutique hotel that masterfully combines its historic legacy with the ultimate in contemporary design and elegance.
Guests get to stay in one of 17 rooms each imbued with period pieces, original paintings by renowned Maltese and International artists and antique tapestries. Four of the rooms have Jacuzzis on their private terraces and all offer stunning views of the surrounding landscape.
Indulge in a sauna or a relaxing massage before taking a gentle stroll around the quiet medieval alleyways. Return to the hotel for a gourmet lunch in the on-site Mediterranean restaurant, de Mondion, and then spend the afternoon hiking or horse back riding. Tasting trips to the nearby Meridian Wine Estate and boat charters are also available.
