The Arctic Expeditions
Participants to this activity will live the unique experience of discovering the Arctic onboard an amphibian plane. The Inuit community will receive guests in its small and isolated village – 479 inhabitants. Located in the northern extreme west of the peninsula of Ungava Bay, which is found between the 60th and 65th parallel, this village is snuggled in the hollow of a splendid valley surrounded by majestic mountains and a beautiful landscape.
The five days Arctic expeditions are organized for small groups. Each guest will be taken onboard embarkations to comfortable camp sites to experience nature, tranquillity while watching wild animals and learning about Inuit traditions, hunting, fishing and survival.
The expedition also consists on spending a night by the 1.4 million years old crater where a meteorite crashed to earth (located 88 km SW of the village of Kangiqsujuaq). The walls of the circular crater created by that impact still cast an imposing shadow over the surrounding plateau of lakes and tundra.
The amphibian plane is also available for various excursions including the Baffin Island.
