Carlisle Bay nestles on a secluded beach in Antigua, with a backdrop of pineapple plantations, mango trees and the rainforest.

The hotel avoids the superfluous and clichéd, concentrating on good service, understated luxury and timeless design. Owner Gordon Campbell Gray created a series of 80 suites facing the Caribbean Sea, each with a private terrace or balcony.

Other stunning features include two exceptional restaurants ‘East’ and ‘Indigo’ on the Beach, three bars, and beautiful landscaped gardens. Guests can be revived in the Blue Spa with six treatment rooms, energised after a tennis game on one of the hotel’s nine courts, or rejuvenated after a dip in the sea. It’s not just about healthy bodies — healthy minds are fed in the sublime library and entertained in the luxurious 45–seat screening room.
