Blakes was created just over ten years ago out of two Victorian mansions in South Kensington by Anouska Hempel, the internationally renowned British designer who combines interior and exterior, couturiere and hotelier to provide a whole new lifestyle. Blakes is now established as totally unique, the model for the “fashionable small hotel” in London and cities around the world.

Blakes is a personal statement about what design can achieve. Anouska Hempel has designed each of the 52 rooms, every detail reconstructed to provide the ideal blend of colour, texture and atmosphere. The colour schemes are daring, stunning and dramatic, all designed with a vibrant spirit, the passion for travel and life, as it should be, romantic and thought provoking. All rooms feature private faxes, television with satellite channels, video, HiFi system, safe and all other modern conveniences. Even oxygen in the mini–bar!

The hotel’s restaurant enjoys an unrivalled reputation for the originality and content of its superb menu. The cuisine is a skilful blend of East and West, elegantly presented to look as good as it tastes.

Always surprising, the courtyard garden, is a hidden jewel on the ground floor, private and secluded and an explosion of greenery all year round.
