Hotel De Orangerie
The small 15th century convent of the Sisters Karthuizerinnen, on the most picturesque canal of medieval Bruges, has been converted to a wonderful boutique hotel, furnished with exclusive fabrics, antiques and objets d’art, all brought together by the proprietor, an antiques dealer and interior decorator.
The 20 superb rooms and suites have been individually decorated with antiques, reprint wall tapestry of 18th century collections and thickly stuffed matching curtains which revitalise the atmosphere of times gone by.
After a long day of sightseeing and shopping, guests can relax by the open fire in comfortable sofas of the lounges overlooking the canal, while going through art books. Enjoy the typical English Afternoon Tea on the waterfront terrace or in the dining room with its stunning collection of 17th and 18th century portraits. Some guests may prefer the bar for a refreshing Flemish beer, a selection of 18 single malts or Champagne with strawberries and chocolate fondue.
