Solitaire Lodge
Solitaire Lodge, in Rotorua on New Zealand’s North Island, stands alone in a time and space far beyond our humdrum horizons. Located on the shores of Lake Tarawera this is a primeval garden, created by a volcanic cataclysm centred on Mount Tarawera, where geysers and hot mud pools share the limelight with the stunning coastline.
10 luxurious suites offer expansive views of the lake, mountain or lagoon, while the insides feature all the amenities expected by today’s’ discerning travellers. Guests may charter one of the three boats or a catamaran for a daily cruise, fly onboard a helicopter to an active volcano, rejuvenate in the natural hot spring waters or simply join a local Mauri guide for a tour of surrounding magnificent views, stories and legends. Traditional meals served in a private dining room or in the garden and excellent New Zealand wines complete the picture.
While impeccable service and attention to detail in everything is the source of pleasure for some, for others it’s the glorious seclusion and the opportunity to leave the world behind and lose oneself in the pristine unspoilt beauty. The Solitaire Lodge offers both.
