&Beyond Sandibe Okavango Safari Lodge combines spectacular architectural design with wildlife adventures
&Beyond Sandibe Okavango Safari Lodge combines spectacular architectural design with exceptional wildlife adventures and the best of African hospitality. The lodge is situated on a private concession in the magnificent Okavango Delta and it boasts exclusive traversing rights over a vast stretch of land adjacent to the wildlife-rich Moremi Game Reserve. Sandibe is one of the most architecturally impressive lodges in the Okavango Delta with its guest areas featuring a curved roof that rises out of the trees and is clad in a skin of wooden shingles and timber mirroring the body armour of the pangolin, a ‘scaly anteater’ native to Africa and Asia. The lodge blends perfectly with its surroundings while the soaring roof creates a grand and immense sense of scale allowing the clear African light and the endless Delta horizons into the high interiors.
The eight elegant elevated guest suites of &Beyond Sandibe Okavango Safari Lodge are also inspired by the nearby fauna, mimicking the cosy nests of golden weaver birds that line the banks of the channel. The design of the suites feels organic with the hand-woven nest-like exteriors and the way in which the suites are peeking out from a canopy of wild palms and fig trees. Designed for both privacy and views, the interior complements the natural lines of the exterior by using minimalistic and natural – wherever possible – furnishings. However don’t mistake this low-key décor for anything else but true luxury, since guests are able to enjoy giant king-sized bed looking out on spectacular Delta views, outdoor showers to make the most of the stunning surroundings, private plunge pools and two large day beds to daydream away taking in the vistas or the starry skies. While a wood-burning fireplace makes for cosy winter nights when the temperatures drop.
