Castilla Termal Monasterio de Valbuena is located in the Golden Mile of the Ribera del Duero

Castilla Termal Monasterio de Valbuena, built in the heart of the Ribera del Duero, is located in the best preserved 12th century Cistercian monastery in Europe in the town of San Bernardo, Valladolid.

This extraordinary luxury spa hotel comprises 79 rooms, combining original features such as exposed stone walls and high arches, with a modern design furniture. Being a most sustainable hotel, one of its main strengths is the combination of staying in an architectural medieval jewel, whilst enjoying the restorative properties of the mineral-rich waters.

An accurate gastronomy proposal is available on site, where the Michelin-starred Chef Miguel Angel de la Cruz gives protagonism to the seasonal and grown on-site products of the monastery’s kitchen garden. The monastery produces its own Ribera wine, Converso, an internationally awarded and limited-production Crianza red wine which can be tasted at The Monks Cellar, the place where all began almost 900 years ago, when the Cistercian monks reached the area and started the tradition in the Duero valley. An impeccable collection of serious red wines from Ribera del Duero can be tasted in the hotel’s cellar as well.

The hotel is also home to the renowned Foundation, Edades del Hombre, which from its workshop on-site promotes, restores, and takes care of ancient sacred art. Not to be missed is the exquisite spa facility Capilla de San Pedro Contrast Circuit, a replica of the original chapel of the monastery’s church, were to indulge oneself by getting the best from the healing powers of the natural spring waters.
