Luxury Tribe:
the trade show driving
India's luxury travel story
An XO Private Interview by Zoila Checa
Luxury Tribe has quickly earned a reputation as India’s leading invitation-only luxury travel show, enabling worldwide, high-end hospitality and experience brands to dip into and succeed in the rapidly-growing and affluent Indian market by connecting them with the country’s top travel designers. So we’re eager to know, what was the original vision behind such a highly curated platform?

Sheetal Rastogi, Founder of the prestigious trade show alongside Khushboo Rastogi and Vishal Jain, has a clear take on this: “Luxury Tribe was born from a simple but powerful idea - that India’s luxury travel market needed an ecosystem built on trust, meaningful relationships, and precision. We could see the growing demand among Indian luxury travellers - and the incredible opportunity it represented for global brands - but there was a clear disconnect. The demand was strong, yet the supply side was struggling to navigate India. Many brands were making repeated trips, investing years trying to understand a fragmented market with over 10.000 travel advisors, and still unsure who the right partners really were”.

That’s where Luxury Tribe came in: to simplify that journey. They brought together years of research, relationships, and market insight into one carefully designed space that connects brands only with relevant, vetted, and influential Indian buyers. Needless to say that the response has been overwhelming. Buyers truly see it as their own country’s showcase to the world, and as Sheetal says, their trust and enthusiasm are what make Luxury Tribe so special: “It’s their love and belief that continue to keep us unique - and, the only platform of its kind for India”.

As one of the founders, there were several personal experiences and industry observations that led Sheetal to launch this luxury travel marketplace for the Indian outbound market. “After nearly two decades in media and luxury travel across Asia, I started noticing something very clear - India’s outbound market was exploding, but global brands were struggling to reach the right audience in the right way. Traditional trade formats just didn’t capture the nuances of the Indian market - they lacked the cultural understanding and the kind of genuine engagement that actually moves business forward”, she says.

After years of study and countless industry conversations, they identified the real gap, but then the question became how to pack maximum value into three meaningful days. “As an Indian myself, I know that our culture is built on relationships first. Business comes after. Brands that want to succeed in India have to do business with heart. That became our guiding principle. We designed Luxury Tribe as a marketplace that has warmth and soul - where conversations turn into friendships and those friendships turn into business”, Sheetal explains.
However, over time, they identified yet another gap in terms of knowledge about the specific market. This led to the creationg of ILLUME, the luxury conference within the show, to give brands genuine insight into Indian travellers: who they are, what they value, and how they buy. “And then we flipped the script with our Fireside Chats, where buyers tell the suppliers what they actually want”, she adds enthusiastically.

In so many ways it’s clear that Luxury Tribe keeps evolving every year, always finding new ways to create connection, spark ideas, and make the experience even richer for all. But of course none of this would be possible without the tight-knit, passionate team that spreads behind the scenes across Dubai, Singapore, and India – all a mix of strategists, curators, technologists, and relationship-builders who believe luxury travel is deeply human.

Sheetal explains their modus operandi: “We combine deep insight into India’s HNI and UHNI mindset with strong digital and tech expertise, helping us design smarter, more efficient ways for brands and buyers to connect. No two partners are ever treated the same and every relationship is nurtured personally, with time and intention. We have no salespeople. The most important criterion in building our team has always been this: every member must truly care about human relationships and come from a place of service and value to every participant. It’s a human-first team in a digital world - blending warmth with intelligence - and that’s what keeps Luxury Tribe truly distinctive”.

All in all, Luxury Tribe - which will celebrate its 7th Edition next year already - can certainly be described in three simple concept words: Human. Transformative. The Most Relevant. Because, as its founder puts it: “Every connection at Luxury Tribe is built around people - real conversations, real relationships. It’s transformative in how it changes the way business is done, replacing transactions with trust. And it remains the most relevant, invitation-only platform in India’s luxury travel space”.
When it comes to the experience and the programme itself, Luxury Tribe truly shines there too. The event usually begins with ILLUME, their knowledge forum and one of the most anticipated parts of the show: “The idea is simple: before the one-on-one meetings begin, we want our international partners to truly understand the Indian luxury travel market. Through interactive sessions, fireside chats, and discussions led by both industry experts and India’s top buyers, we bring everyone onto the same page”.

Sheetal insists that the first day is incredibly important, for it sets the tone and transforms the next two days of appointments. Instead of starting with “tell me about the India market,” exhibitors walk in already informed and confident. Therefore, conversations always go deeper, focusing on shared goals and creative collaboration.

From there, she says, each edition unfolds like a story: “Mornings are devoted to pre-scheduled one-on-one meetings - structured, calm, and purposeful. Afternoons and evenings evolve into curated gatherings, private lunches, and elegant networking events designed for genuine connection. Every element - from the scent in the room to the cadence of the programme - is designed to feel elevated yet effortless".
With a vast sector of the travel industry already antcipating its next edition, to be held in March 2026 at The Leela Palace Jaipur, Sheetal unveils that they’ll be bringing together over 100 of India’s most influential luxury travel designers and over 100 exceptional exhibitors. This will include from luxury boutique hotels and DMCs to tourism boards and private jet or yacht charter and cruise lines. However, “the format will remain intimate and highly selective, ensuring ROI and relationship depth”, she says.

But who is who at Luxury Tribe? “Our buyer community is entirely invitation-only - curated through a confidential selection process designed by Luxury Tribe, which ensures every participant represents excellence, integrity, and real influence within India’s luxury travel space”, says Sheetal. And in fact, buyers here include India’s most trusted - the ones advising the top 3% of India’s affluent travellers. They represent clients from over 80 wealth hubs across the country, giving exhibitors direct access to India’s true luxury demand map in just three days!

In turn, she adds: “On the exhibitor side, we look for brands that truly align with our ethos: authenticity, service excellence, and readiness for India. We go a step further and ask one key question before onboarding any brand — does this exhibitor have the potential to generate multi-fold returns from this market? We study buyer demand, interest in their region or product, and ensure every match is deliberate and meaningful. With only a limited number of brands presented each year, we are careful and intentional about who joins us”.

The goal, therefore, is simple: when someone joins Luxury Tribe, they must win. And Sheetal and her team go beyond the traditional trade show scope to make that happen: “We follow up after the show, track how buyer–exhibitor relationships evolve, and ensure our partners remain top of mind within the Luxury Tribe ecosystem. We even begin engagement months before the event, because Luxury Tribe isn’t just three days, it’s an ongoing relationship and year-round visibility platform".
"That extra effort - the things we do quietly, without being asked - that’s our secret recipe. And it’s something we’ll keep evolving every year to make the experience even more valuable for everyone who’s part of the Tribe”.

And talking about ‘tribes’, one begs to wonder, why did the team choose such a niche, memorable and soulful name? For Sheetal, there was really not much question about it: “To me, Tribe is about belonging - to a circle where trust runs deeper than contracts. It’s about shared values: integrity, curiosity, generosity, and grace. At Luxury Tribe, that spirit is tangible in the conversations, collaborations, and lifelong friendships it sparks. It’s more than an event; it’s a collective energy that keeps growing, year after year”. And this concept and feeling seems to run much deeper: “In India, we grow up in a family-oriented culture, where caring for one another is second nature. Homes are always open, friends are treated like family, and we take pride in standing by each other. That same feeling runs through Luxury Tribe. When our exhibitors and buyers come together, it’s not just business - it feels like coming home.

To me, a tribe is a group of people who truly stand for each other, support each other, and take joy in one another’s success. When an exhibitor shares real value that helps a buyer serve their clients better, everyone wins, naturally and generously. It goes far beyond the idea of ‘give and take’; it’s about helping one another win”.

Luxury Tribe is both a platform and a philosophy, as Sheetal concludes, and it’s indeed proof that when one designs with purpose and authenticity, business transforms into connection.
Founder Sheetal Rastogi presenting the ILLUME talks
“Luxury Tribe is a community that works hard, connects deeply, and still finds time to laugh, relax, and celebrate together. For our participants - many of whom are among the most accomplished people in luxury travel - it’s both rejuvenating and profoundly productive, often resulting in the most meaningful days of their professional year”
Industry Insights in India, with Sheetal Rastogi

• India’s outbound luxury travel market has evolved greatly in recent years. How do you see Luxury Tribe reflecting and shaping this?
Sheetal: "Luxury Tribe mirrors the evolution of Indian affluence - from consumption to connection, and from aspiration to identity. Today’s Indian luxury traveller values authenticity, privacy, and emotional depth. Through our curated ecosystem, we help global brands understand not just who the Indian traveller is, but why they travel - the emotions, intentions, and values driving their choices.

We continuously study the market - researching trends, interviewing both consumers and India’s leading luxury travel designers, and publishing our findings through the annual Luxury Tribe Trend Report. The report has become a valuable resource for global brands, often identifying shifts in Indian traveller behaviour before they go mainstream - from emerging destinations to changing definitions of luxury. These insights also form the backbone of our ILLUME sessions, helping our partners engage with India’s luxury audience in ways that are timely, informed, and future ready".

• India’s luxury travellers are increasingly experience-driven and values-conscious. How does Luxury Tribe help international brands understand and connect with this audience?
Sheetal: "We help brands move beyond demographics to understand mindsets. Through curated interactions, strategic conversations, and cultural insight sessions, exhibitors learn what truly drives India’s luxury travellers - celebration as self-expression, family as identity, and experience as legacy. Luxury Tribe helps translate these nuances into actionable brand strategies and meaningful, lasting relationships.

This understanding begins on Day 1 of the show with two signature formats: ILLUME - where we decode the Indian luxury consumer as a whole. It’s a deep dive into the psyche of India’s affluent travellers - what inspires them, how they plan, and the new definitions of value shaping their decisions. Then come the Fireside Chats, where the tables turn - buyers become mentors, sharing exactly how to sell to the Indian market, what resonates with their clients, and how brands can position themselves effectively. It’s rare access - direct learning from the very people shaping India’s outbound luxury story. And for most exhibitors, it’s the most valuable part of the entire experience".

• The Indian market is diverse, spanning over 80 cities and multiple traveller profiles. How do you balance this diversity while maintaining the exclusivity that defines Luxury Tribe?

Sheetal: "Our buyer selection covers a wide geography but a unified mindset - they all share a deep understanding of the luxury consumer and an ability to influence their journeys. We embrace India’s diversity but filter for excellence. That’s what allows us to represent the entire market while keeping the experience exclusive, personal, and cohesive".
