Maison Kissako - Unique travel activities for VIPs on a private-only basis in Japan

Maison Kissako is a Tokyo-based collective of travel designers creating private activities in Japan for the clients of luxury travel advisors, tour operators and hotel concierges. The maison works on a referral-only basis, so nothing is sold to the public and every request comes through a partner it already knows.

Maison Kissako deals with the people behind each experience itself, with no intermediaries in between. Its best-selling experience takes guests inside Toyosu Market, from the tuna auction to the intermediary wholesale floors normally closed to the public. Guests walk the market with an expert guide, or with a chef from a Michelin-listed restaurant who then leads a sushi-making class. Other signatures include a ramen-making class with the founding chef of a Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant, a Zen meditation and tea experience at the Kyoto temple where the tea ceremony took shape, an evening of Asakusa bar hopping with a sumo wrestler, and a night through Kyoto's geisha districts with a geisha walking alongside.

Every activity is designed from scratch around the guest's interests, pace and dietary needs, and can be combined with private cars and full-day guiding to fit into an existing itinerary. Guides are bilingual professionals with interpreter credentials.
