Blancaneaux Lodge, where luxurious life meets the eyes of the jaguars in Belize
In Central America, where the tropical jungles are rich and the Gulf of Mexico brings cooling breezes in the evening, the Coppola family, led by the famed director Francis Ford Coppola, has created an exquisite resort for the bespoken exploration of the Yucatan Peninsula, called Blancaneaux Lodge. Located in the western rainforests of the nation of Belize, along the Privassion Creek in the northwest corner of the Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve, the Blancaneaux is a perfect hidden luxury accommodation in the center of the Belize wilderness. Decorated with lavishly furnishings, accented with Guatemalan themes, Blancaneaux stretches alongside the boulders and pools of Privassion Creek, where the local waterfall murmurs and calms the mind and body.
An Amazing Island of Luxury in a Deep and Green Jungle
The appointments of Blancaneaux feature 20 cabanas and spa, an infinity pool, two restaurants and the Jaguar Bar. Several of the cabanas enjoy their own private plunge pools, and the entire estate features excellent collection of such luxury amenities as bathrobes, Wi-Fi, and your own telescopes for stargazing. Blancaneaux is stretched along the northern side of the Privassion, looks south over tropical greenery and fine sunsets and sunrises. An airstrip comfortably situated a short distance to the north of the Creek allows quiet and regular travel in and out of the estate, along with the Chiquibul Road which leads north to Belize City, the capital of the nation of Belize. The Chiquibul also runs south, deep into the exotic Mountain Pine Ridge rainforest, all the way to the ancient Mayan ruins of Caracol, where the resort can arrange a bespoke tour of the grounds. The estate also maintains a stable of beautiful riding horses, and there are several established trails that can be enjoyed at various times of the day.
Touring the Mayan Ruins
The jungles of Belize are home to jaguar, tapir, coatimundi, and ocelot, and the staff will be glad to offer various exploration to its guests on a bespoken basis. In Belize, you are living in the midst of a rare tropical world, and you may enjoy your favorite moments at the Green Hills Butterfly Ranch, just five or so miles north of the resort. About ten miles to the west lies the border with Guatelamla, where the amazing Xunantunich Mayan ruins stand. A longer day trip into Guatemala will ring you to the greatest Mayan pyramids of all, the Tikal Complex, with the only remaining ball courts of the Mayan civilization. The surrounding jungles are filled with rare and exotic animals and plants.
The Caves of The Yucatan
The staff can easily create a tour of the numerous open caves of the region for adventurous travelers, although you must consider your physical condition carefully when choosing your bespoke journey. The Actun Tunichil Muknal descent is the most strenuous, while the Barton Creek Cave is enjoyed from the seat of a canoe, which emerges into beautiful jungle spaces after the underground ride. After a day of exertion, you can relax at either of the resort’s two restaurants, the Montagna Ristorante or the poolside Guatemaltecqua Restaurant. A late night cocktail at the estate’s organic garden may be the perfect way to end the day, or you might prefer to take the Moonlight Jaguar Quest, just a short drive and hike from the lodge. Either way the luxurious spa services and lavish accommodations of the Blancaneaux await you, where you can rest and enjoy every moment of your bespoke adventure in the rainforests of Belize.
