Enjoy the Ultimate Pacific Get-a-Way on Ratua Private Island
Ratua Private Island is located in the Vanuatu Archipelago group of islands and being privately owned, can afford you the ultimate experience of a true Pacific island get-a-way, escaping from the sometimes stifling normalities of modern living. Although an exotic, out of the way destination, Ratua Private Island can still offer you the same luxuries of a deluxe hotel in a crowded beach resort town.
With this 146 acre island being sheltered by larger islands on either side, Ratua Private Island enjoys a pleasant climate that is ideally suited to the many beach and water activities that can be enjoyed on it. The island has its own varieties of activities from which it can offer either the budding recluse or the energetic family; relaxing on a pristine sandy beach, snorkelling the clear waters or exploring one of the many mysterious blue holes, to horseback or mountain bike riding through the lush green acres.
The accommodation on Ratua Private Island consists of a selection of luxury villas located around the island, plus for the more romantic, a luxury tent with king size bed situated on the beach to allow the melody of the waves to invoke exotic dreams. Apart from the tent, all the accommodations are bicentennial, Indonesian style villas that were transported to the island and strategically placed to offer the best vantage points, then renovated with luxury fitting so all have en-suite bathrooms and private terraces with access to water.
The Yacht Club acts as the meeting place for Ratua Private Island and it is here that you can find the kitchen, dining room, lounge, bar, games room, cinema and Wi-Fi internet. Plus of course there is wooden deck over-looking the sandy beach and turquoise waters.
Although all the meals consist of fresh fruits and vegetables from the island as well as local meat produce, including freshly caught fish, you have a variety of venues in which to dine. You can opt for a gourmet type dinner in the dining room, a more relaxed, French style picnic on a tablecloth spread on the sand or even a beach barbecue for the more casual diner.
Being part of the Vanuatu Archipelago there are many other islands in easy reach for one day excursions and among the more interesting of these are Ambrym Island, famous for its wood carvings and dancing, Pentecost Island where the islander’s land diving ritual inspired some enterprising New Zealanders to introduce bungee jumping to the world. Several of the nearby islands have volcanoes including Tanna Island whose fiery volcano Mount Yasur, is considered to be the world’s most accessible.
The island’s delights
Ratua Private Island proves that to successfully get away from life’s stresses, you do not have to leave life’s luxuries behind. With its own private spa offering exclusive treatments and its luxury accommodations, you need only interact as much as you please, yet can still enjoy a wide array of activities either on your own or as part of a group.
