The Siam, an exclusive retreat in the heart of Bangkok’s historical district
An urban sanctuary in its most literal sense, The Siam is a haven of calm in the heart of one of the world’s most frenetic cities. Designed by hotel guru Bill Bensley it’s a captivating mix of art deco aesthetics, jazz era elegance and classic Thai influences.
The family’s own collection of archaeological curios, vintage books and flea market finds are artistically displayed across the uber-stylish black and white common areas and peppered through the swanky rooms: guests stay either in Riverview Suites with soaring ceilings, full-height windows and vast bathrooms, or Pool Villas, with lush private courtyards, plunge pools and sunny roof terraces.
Its location right on the Chao Phraya river allows for easy access to the city’s main historic sites via the hotel’s private riverboat, but for those who prefer to indulge in The Siam’s onsite pleasures there is everything from a black-and-jade infinity pool and superb spa to a Muay Thai boxing ring and a cooking school adjacent to the restaurant.
