Visit the first permanent camp in the so far isolated Liuwa Plain National Park

The extreme isolation of the Liuwa Plain National Park has traditionally made it a logistically challenging place to visit, and thus one of Africa’s greatest secrets.

The opening of the first permanent camp, the King Lewanika Lodge in 2017 is starting to change this: accessed by helicopter, Zambia’s most exclusive camp comprises just six spectacular villas.

Each sits on a raised platform, with one side open to views of the endless savannah. Designed as a natural extension of the landscape there is an effortless flow between indoors and outdoors, with the honey-toned hues of the grasslands reflected in the warm interiors.

Discover an African wilderness that few travellers reach: award-winning guides take guests on intimate game drives by day and by night, as well as fishing and canoeing expeditions in the wet season. There is no better way to experience the magic of Liuwa Plain – home to Africa’s second largest wildebeest migration, incredible birdlife and the famed Lady Liuwa lion pride.
